Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to receive dry needling as part of my mobile Myotherapy treatment?

Regrettably, we cannot offer mobile dry needling services due to Health and Safety regulations and compliance requirements within our mobile massage business. If you're interested in dry needling, please reach out to us, as we do offer this treatment in a clinic setting located in Hawthorn. Here we can set up an appointment for you to come to this location!

I have private health insurance, am I able to use this and make a claim?

Yes! We don’t currently have a HICAPS machine, so you won’t be able to claim on the spot. However, once the treatment has finished, a receipt will be emailed to you so you can make the claim via your private heath fund online.

How do I pay for my treatment?

Payment is due upon completion of your booking. You will have two options at checkout - one being ‘pay now’ or ‘pay later’. If you decide on the pay later option, the amount for the treatment will be deducted from you payment method which is provided at checkout. On the rare occasion, you don’t pay prior to the appointment. Your Flexr therapist carries a Square® Terminal to accept payment via a debit or credit card. Cash is also accepted in the case of no payment prior to the appointment.

Alternatively, we can take payments over the phone if you prefer to pay in advance or pay for a friend prior to their treatment.

What is the service/processing fee?

Flexr Therapy applies a 5% service fee to all confirmed bookings. This fee ensures fair compensation for our therapists, supports and improves the platform operations, enhances customer service, and allows us to source top-quality therapists for our clients.

I have never had a in-home treatment before. What should I expect? Do I need to supply or prepare anything?

No need to do anything! Flexr mobile massage therapists come prepared with all the equipment and towels needed for your treatment. All you need is to be present and provide a space in your home, large enough for your therapist to set up their table. Once your therapist arrives, they will quickly set up in your preferred area, provide a short consultation and then begin the treatment. When the treatment has finished, your therapist will ask you to get changed, then they will pack down the equipment and leave you to relax!

I have never had a mobile remedial massage before, what should I expect?

The therapist brings all necessary equipment and supplies to you location. A remedial massage typically focuses on addressing specific musculoskeletal issues and injuries, such as chronic pain, tension, and limited range of motion. The therapist will use a combination of techniques, such as deep tissue, trigger point therapy, and stretching, to release tension and promote healing in the affected area. The therapist will also provide recommendations for self-care and stretching exercises to help you maintain the benefits of the massage between sessions.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

We are reasonable people and understand that sometimes life happens, and things do come up! But we don’t want other clients that might be in need to miss out on a treatment, so we ask that you respect our time. Please let us know ASAP if you must cancel your appointment.

There is a strict cancellation policy to make it fair for clients and therapists.

  • A 25 % cancellation fee will apply if you cancel less than 12 hours before the start time of the treatment.

  • A 50% cancellation fee will apply if you cancel less than 6 hours before the start time of the treatment.

  • A 100% cancellation fee applies to all treatments cancelled less than 1 hours prior to the scheduled treatment time, or if you decide to turn away the therapist on arrival.

We may waive the cancellation fee in the case of a legitimate reason, entirely at our discretion.

Is Myotherapy or remedial massage painful? Does remedial massage hurt? And will I be sore after my remedial massage?

If there is tension in the muscle, then the treatment may be painful, especially if it has been a while between treatments or you have never had one before. During the treatment, generally the type of pain that you feel will be good pain. You will notice that the pain should disappear once the muscle releases, resulting in relief!
As for feeling sore after a treatment, yes this can happen and is very normal. We like to use the example; massage is like exercise. You can feel sore after a gym session or workout, and it takes time for the soft tissues to repair, so feeling sore after a certain massage treatment is normal. If you’re experiencing post massage soreness it is because the soft tissues of the worked areas have been manipulated to break down shortened muscles, adhesions, and knots. This is to help improve and restore the condition of a muscle to a more functional state. While the soft tissues repair after your treatment, it is possible you may feel sore to move for a couple of days or the area may feel sore to touch, just like a bruise, but after a couple of days you should be fine and feeling better. We strongly recommend that you drink plenty of water and take a warm bath or shower after your treatment. Keeping the muscles warm and hydrated will help with and speed up the healing process after your treatment.

What is your travel fee policy?

Please be aware that our therapist will have to travel to you for your treatments. We are located within the City of Stonnington, and we do not charge a travel fee unless you live beyond a 20km radius of our area. We will charge an additional $10 travel fee to your treatment if you live 20-40km outside our radius. For clients who live more than 40km from our radius we will advise the fee at the time of booking.

What do I do if there isn’t any available parking for my therapist?

We strongly recommend you research available parking for your therapist prior to making a booking. If you live in a built-up area, for example, the CBD, please advise where our therapists can park for the duration of your treatment. If your therapist is required to pay for parking the additional amount will be added to your treatment.

Do you do same day or last minute bookings?

Yes, we do same day bookings, depending on therapist availability, we can be at your doorstep in an as little as an hour for those last-minute appointments. You can simply select the earliest time option on our website.

Can you do group bookings?

Yes, we do offer group bookings. Our trained therapist will provide a personalised experience for your group, catering to each individual's needs while maintaining a cohesive and enjoyable experience for the group as a whole.

Please note that with only one therapist available, during the session, the therapist will work with each member to identify their specific needs and preferences, tailoring the treatment accordingly. We recommend booking in advance to secure your desired time and date.

Do I need to tip my massage therapist?

This is entirely up to each individual; however, all fees are included in the final price. If you really want to show your appreciation, then any tip will be humbly appreciated, however the greatest tip that you can leave and the best compliment for your massage therapist is being rebooked as well as leaving valuable feedback via email or google.
